Block courseEcomorphology, lecture with practical. Students in this course and practical work in small groups (2 per group) and learn how to conduct ecomorphological studies. They learn to conduct a research question and design a study beginning with setting up an ecomorphological protocol, collect and analyse data (3D data on morphology, gather a phylogeny and use all the tools that are available to scientists: Morphosource, vertlife, …), interpret and present results in oral format. Scientific projects focus on how ecological factors impact the pattern of morphological variation in a group of vertebrates of their choice. University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland. > 40 hours. 2024-2025
Evolutionary and functional morphology, practical for advanced students (BSC thesis). Students develop a project on evolutionary and functional morphology on which they work for 3 months. At the end, they must write a manuscript and give a presentation.
Evolutionary and functional morphology (MSC thesis) Students develop a project on evolutionary and functional morphology on which they work for 1.5 year. At the end, they must write a manuscript and give a presentation.

Journal club systematics, seminar, University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland. 26-hours. In the Journal Club Systematics, we discuss recent publications related to systematics of different groups of metazoan animals as well as methods of phylogenetic reconstruction including morphological, functional morphological and molecular genetic techniques. The participating students have to present in groups of 2 a set of papers presenting a view and a counter-view on a scientific question. 2022-2025
